How This Site Verifies What It Says About Kentucky
Every jurisdiction claim on this site traces to an official Kentucky source opened on a stated date: the Transportation Cabinet's maintenance manuals, the Kentucky Revised Statutes and Administrative Regulations, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, the Department for Public Health, and the city and county pages for each metro. Where a source does not exist, the page says so instead of borrowing a rule from another state.

How a claim gets onto a page
- The official page is opened, not summarised from memory. Sentences are quoted verbatim inside quotation marks; the retrieval date is 2026-09-06 for everything at launch.
- Scope is read literally. KRS 257.160 opens with "domestic livestock, poultry, and fish", so it is never applied to wildlife or pets. The hazard hotline page never mentions animals, so the site says reporting a carcass there is consistent with the maintenance manual, not stated on the hotline page.
- Absence is recorded as absence. Kentucky publishes no homeowner statute for a dead wild animal and no roadkill salvage rule we could find; both are stated as gaps with the chapters that were checked.
- Four things are kept apart: who picks a carcass up, who may possess it, how it may be transported, and how it may be disposed of. Chronic wasting disease rules belong to the last two, not the first.
- Every city page lists what its source does not establish, usually private property, deer, response time and cost, so a reader knows where the page stops.
Why no price is printed
Because a printed range is a promise. None of the operators reachable through this site has supplied verified Kentucky rates, and a figure borrowed from another state or a directory would be a guess presented as a fact. The operator quotes on the call from the animal, its location, the access and the disposal route; that quote is the only Kentucky price this site stands behind. The one figure any Kentucky agency publishes on the subject, Lexington's $45 charge to veterinary offices, is labelled as a municipal fee wherever it appears.

Full URLs and retrieval dates sit under each guide and in each city's authority table. Competitor sites, directories, review platforms and social posts are never used as authority.
Limits
- We cannot price a job, confirm an operator's availability, or promise a specific service from a page. All three happen on the call.
- We cannot rule on a rabies exposure. That is the local health department's, per the state's guidance.
- Agency pages change. The retrieval date on each page is the honest freshness signal; re-verification is scheduled quarterly, and a reader's correction is applied after the source is re-checked.
- Local ordinances on burial and curbside placement were not read for every city; where a page says a rule is local, that is the extent of what was verified.
